Alma is a wonderful Mexican restaurant in downtown Brooklyn, with beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline (especially from their rooftop terrace!). They start you off with delicious tortilla chips and salsa. We opted for guacamole as well which was excellent. We shared an order of...More
I booked the week before requesting a rooftop table for a Friday night. Despite getting an email confirming my reservation, when I arrived they didn't have my booking. Fortunately for me they had 1 table left on the terrace and it was a superb view,...More
Great food and wonderful neighborhood atmosphere - Disappointed we weren't able to eat on the rooftop but still had a great view of Manhatten from the second floor. Food was very authentic with generouse portions.
What can I say that you don't already know? BEST burgers in Michigan hands down! Rivals Au Cevel in Chicago as the best around. My burger came with lettuce, tomato, bacon, zip sauce and smoked Gouda cheese! Melted in my mouth! The only thing I would say is go back to the thin cut Cancun fries! I was disappointed they were not on the menu anymore. Redcoat Tavern is a foodies Fantasy!
Sunday 5p - pretty busy and full inside but no wait for a table. Server was busy though.
Parking - free lot!
Ordered the burger just how it came - big! They're not kidding w the half lb of meat on this thing. You have to add cheese (it doesn't come w it) and there are plenty of topping options to make it your own.
Truffle fries - huge portion, enough to share w at least 3 ppl if not more. Fries are crispy and topped w Parmesan, garlic, and truffle oil. A few bites is enough bc it's so rich.
Red coat salad - basic except it comes w this slice of fantastic hazelnut cheese that makes it next level. Filling bc of the chicken and sweet from the raspberry dressing.
I've been coming here since the 1980s when a much smaller menu was simply printed on a paper placemat. Over the years I've watched Red Coat grow and change (except for the decor) and only seems to get better with age. I don't get here very often anymore and it's become my family 'special treat' that's always worth the drive. If there is any downside to Red Coat it's only because its so packed and busy now but that's a good thing!
Special trivia: This was the location of the original Pasquale's before they moved to the other side of Woodward Ave.
Best late night grub on Woodward I tell you. Wake up hungry in the middle of the night-Morning and this is your place. No kitchen closed here!!! Baby this American cuisine is everything and fresh and tasty and cooked to perfection. The Mac & Cheese simply amazing it has to be a ton of various cheeses in there! Don't you leave this place without our trying a burger DUH! Although I had the corned-beef, it was so juicy and amazing! I almost took the chef home... my boyfriend would have approved! The staff seems to be very nice even during late night hours, which is rare! So I would say if your out clubbing or wake up hungry this is your spot folks.
